Foxx worked the stand-up comedy circuit for years before finally getting his break on the sketch-comedy show In Living Color in 1990. His popularity soared with wacky characters like way-ugly Wanda, helping Foxx score his own sitcom, The Jamie Foxx Show, on the WB in 1996. Film roles in Booty Call, The Players Club and Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday soon followed. It was his turn as blind musician Ray Charles in 2004's Ray,
however, that made this Texan comic into a Hollywood superstar. Foxx
won every major acting award he was nominated for that year, including
a Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Actor honors. That same year, Foxx
was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Collateral. Foxx is squarely among the A-list now, landing roles in both credible dramas (2005's Jarhead) and bankable (2006's Miami Vice).
